Dr. Julie Angellotti completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006. After graduation she moved to Los Angeles, where she began her career in dentistry. She practiced there until moving to Tucson in 2011 to advance her career by taking a position with MHC Healthcare, where she was quickly promoted to Dental Director. Dr. Angellotti is an active member of the American Dental Association and advocates for the profession to ensure it remains held to the highest standards. In 2015, her peers elected her to serve as a delegate to the Arizona Dental Association. She is also a board member of the Pima Dental Study Club, which is the largest study club in Tucson.
Dr. Angellotti is passionate about the healing arts, and has been practicing yoga and meditation for 20 years. In 2008 she became a certified yoga instructor from White Lotus in Santa Barbara, California, where she trained with Ganga White and Tracy Rich. To further her studies in meditation, Dr. Angellotti completed two Vipassana “sits.” One of her lifelong dreams has been to operate a dental practice and yoga studio in the same facility to bring her profession and passion together. After serendipitously connecting with Dr. Swidler, she was thrilled to discover that this model already exists here in Tucson.
One key takeaway from her meditation studies is the connection of all things, and how interrelated we all are. This holds true in her experience with oral health as well. Good health begins with the food we put in our mouths, and how it interacts with and affects our teeth. When a mouth’s function is compromised and disease is present, a decline in systemic health can result. As an artist and surgeon of the mouth, Dr. Angellotti truly enjoys her role in helping restore health to her patients.
Outside the dental office, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and two small children. She loves hiking, traveling, tennis, gardening, reading, reggae music, and watching films. Her favorite subjects to study are dentistry, human and animal evolution, geology, genetics, history, palmistry, health/wellness and spiritual development. Dr. Angellotti is a gregarious soul who loves getting to know her patients and learning from them. She is proud to be practicing alongside Dr. Swidler, where she feels right at home in such a progressive environment that is open to embracing the most up to date findings in modern dentistry.
